Link explores the meeting point between earth and silk, bringing together the permanence of clay and the fluidity of fabric.
The silk is not simply placed onto the ceramic form. It becomes part of its composition, passing through sculpted openings, wrapping around the structure and introducing movement, color and narrative into the solidity of stoneware.
The collaboration brings together Joanne Najjar’s sculptural ceramic practice and Lilly the Twilly’s silk craftsmanship. Each ceramic form is conceived and handbuilt in Najjar’s studio, while the silk introduces imagery inspired by Beirut, Lebanon, women and desert landscapes.
Together, the two materials create a dialogue between structure and flow, permanence and movement, each retaining its own character while becoming part of a single composition.
Drapée — Link Collection
Drapée explores the relationship between a grounded ceramic form and the movement of silk. Rising vertically in warm terracotta tones, the sculpture has a strong, architectural presence softened by the fabric that wraps around its upper form.
Integrated into the sculpture is Lilly the Twilly’s Rêve de Beyrouth Scarf 90, a silk design inspired by Beirut across different moments in its history. At its center, the clock of Place de l’Étoile becomes a symbol of continuity, transformation and a city repeatedly finding its way forward.
The ceramic form and silk bring these ideas together through contrasting materials. One is grounded and enduring; the other moves freely around it. Drapée becomes a work about connection, memory and transformation, holding the permanence of earth alongside the movement of a city that continues to evolve.
