Rise Mémoire I - Terre de Feu explores the passage of memories through time, where each fold carries a trace of an experience, a feeling or a moment that remains within us.
The form rises through flowing vertical folds that twist and unfold around a deep central void. This empty space represents memories that have faded, been lost or intentionally forgotten. As the sculpture is viewed from different angles, its changing contours reveal a contrast between what remains visible and what is hidden.
Handbuilt in Terre de Feu stoneware, the sculpture preserves the natural warmth and texture of the red clay. The deep matte black interior contrasts with the earthy exterior, emphasizing the presence of absence. Light and shadow follow the sculpted folds, creating a quiet tension between movement and stillness.
