Rise Racine I – Terre de Feu explores growth as an upward force, beginning from a grounded base and unfolding as the form rises. Root-like lines emerge from the base and travel upward across the surface, tracing the direction of the movement toward the opening above.
The sculpture remains firmly grounded while carrying a strong impulse to rise. Its changing silhouette reveals different relationships between line, volume and space from every angle, while the roots reinforce the sense of growth and ascent.
Handbuilt in Terre de Feu stoneware, the warm red clay is contrasted by darkened edges that follow the contours of the form. The restrained surface allows the texture of the clay, the raised roots and the upward gesture to remain central.
