Rise Racine II – Terre d’Ivoire explores growth as an upward movement, beginning from a grounded base and unfolding as the form rises. Root-like lines emerge from the base and travel upward across the surface, tracing the direction of the movement toward the opening above.
Overlapping planes twist and separate, creating shifting spaces as one moves around the sculpture. Although firmly rooted at its base, the form gradually expands outward, balancing a sense of grounding with the impulse to rise.
Handbuilt in Terre d’Ivoire stoneware, the warm ivory surface is tactile and restrained. Light and shadow reveal the raised roots, thin edges and changing depths, reinforcing the vertical movement of the form.
