Rise Racine II – Terre d'Ivoire, explores upward movement through a form that twists, separates, and opens as it rises. Flowing ridges emerge from the base and travel across the surface, emphasizing a sense of growth and directing the eye toward the unfolding edges above.
The sculpture is composed of overlapping planes that appear to pull away from one another, creating changing openings and negative spaces from every angle. The movement feels both grounded and expansive - rooted at its base while reaching outward.
Handbuilt in highly grogged stoneware, the natural Terre d’Ivoire clay gives the piece a warm, mineral texture. Its soft ivory tone and tactile surface allow light and shadow to reveal the ridges, irregular edges, and shifting depth of the form.
