Wave Aura I – Terre d'Ivoire, explores the idea of presence extending beyond the boundaries of form. Layers of clay unfold and radiate outward from a central body, each moving in a different direction while remaining connected to the whole.
The overlapping planes create a sculpture that continuously changes as it is viewed from different angles. At moments the form appears open and expansive; from others, its layers seem to gather inward and protect the space within. This shifting relationship between openness and enclosure gives the piece a sense of movement despite its stillness.
Handbuilt in Terre d’Ivoire stoneware, the warm ivory clay is left intentionally understated, allowing the natural texture of the material, the thin irregular edges, and the play of light and shadow to define the sculpture.
