Wave Empreinte – Terre de FeuSignature explores the trace left behind by movement. The form unfolds in a sweeping gesture, while fingerprints intentionally preserved in the clay record the movement of the hand that shaped it.
Empreinte, meaning “imprint,” refers to these visible marks. They become part of the sculpture’s surface, preserving a moment of contact between hand and material. The gesture has passed, yet its presence remains embedded in the clay.
Handbuilt in Terre de Feu stoneware, the warm terracotta body is contrasted by deep charcoal edges that trace the contours of the form. Light moves across the folds and impressions, revealing the tactile surface and emphasizing the movement held within the sculpture.
